This Georgian parsonage, in the Yorkshire village of Haworth dates from 1779. A strikingly plain building, within its stone walls would be written some of the most passionate and romantic novels in the English language.
Its most celebrated occupants moved in in April 1820 after the Reverend Patrick Brontë was appointed perpetual curate of St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Haworth.
His daughters Charlotte, Emily and Anne wrote their novels against the backdrop of the wild moorland scenery surrounding their home which so inspired their work.
From earliest childhood the Brontë siblings explored the moors, walking miles in all weathers, sometimes by moonlight.
