Monk’s house in Rodmell, Sussex, was the country retreat of Leonard and Virginia Woolf.
Little more than a rundown allotment when they moved in in 1919, the garden they created was an oasis of peace for Virginia and became a life’s passion for Leonard.
Virginia’s daily walk from the cottage down to what she called her “writing lodge” at the bottom of the garden, was a never-ending source of joy and inspiration.
