Monk’s house was the seventeenth century cottage acquired by Leonard and Virginia Woolf with royalties from her second novel, Night and Day.
It stands in the Sussex village of Rodmell, just a few miles across the South Downs from Charleston Farmhouse, home of Virginia’s sister, the painter Vanessa Bell, who we see here, arriving for tea and lively conversation.
