When Patrick Brontë and his family arrived in Haworth in 1820 he found to his dismay that no school existed.
As the father of three future literary geniuses it is no surprise Mr Brontë valued learning and it was his lifelong cause to bring education to the poor.
After years of campaigning he eventually inaugurated his Sunday School, just yards away from the Parsonage, in 1832. By 1844 it was a full time school, charging pupils 2d a week to attend.
Here we see Charlotte outside the building where she and her siblings all taught at one time or another, ready for her class.
