Wentworth Place in Hampstead, now Keats House, was home to the Romantic poet John Keats between 1818 and 1820. It was built in 1815 as a pair of semi-detached houses designed to appear as one building.
Keats’ valedictory letter to the mother of his fiancée, Fanny Brawne, serves as a pathway to his former home. It was written by the dying poet in Italy to where he had sailed in the vain hope of recovering his health.
This image was inspired by the lines, “Was it a vision, or a waking dream?” from the Ode to a Nightingale which was composed in the garden of Wentworth Place.
